Most people have already stopped wearing face masks. The initial response to them was fairly poor with many people complaining that they couldn’t breathe properly or saying that it caused a lot of acne on their face. Whatever the situation is, it’s clear that many people are relieved that they no longer have to wear a face mask.

However, for others, face masks are only just getting started.

You see, face masks have slowly become a fashion accessory over the past year. Face masks were already somewhat fashionable in other parts of the world, so it’s only natural that we’ve started to see the fashionable potential in face masks. In addition to protecting us from pollutants in the air, they can actually look fantastic if you’re willing to put a bit of effort into choosing or even making your own face mask.

So if you’ve grown a little attached to your face mask, here are a couple of ways to make it more fashionable.

Stop wearing disposable masks

Disposable masks are not only bad for the environment, but they also can’t be personalised and don’t look as nice as fabric masks. A fabric mask can be washed and reused as many times as you want, and the fabric used means that they can have unique designs on them.

Instead of a disposable mask, look for durable options such as CHOOB® safety gear masks or even look at masks from well-known brands like Adidas. More and more companies are starting to launch their own lineup of fashionable face masks, so you have plenty of choices to pick from!

Consider making your own mask

It’s actually fairly easy to design your own mask. You can use something like a fabric mask as a base, but there are also plenty of guides on the internet on how you create a safe mask of your own design while also making it comfortable and convenient to wear.

Making a mask is a fantastic little side project and it can give you a highly personalised mask that is completely unique to you. This is a great way to express yourself through fashion and can be a great introduction to making your own clothes.

Think of it like any other piece of clothing you’d wear

Don’t just buy a random mask with a unique pattern and call it a day. Try and coordinate with your other fashion essentials and make it fit within the overall design and feel of your outfit.

For instance, if you’re wearing a colourful pattern shirt, then you can offset some of that loud design with a fairly simple face mask that has a similar pattern. However, if you’ve picked up a rather eccentric face mask with a unique pattern and even accessories hanging off it, then you can draw attention to it by wearing plainer clothes.

There are plenty of ways to mix and match things like this, so don’t be afraid to try new things.
