Coming from South America, I know how tiring summertime can be. However, enjoying summer is easier with this essential advice.

Summer is springing upon us and with that comes the promise of decent weather. We get to spend more time outdoors enjoying the sun and spending time with our friends and family.

That being said you may also have some vacation time to look forward to, where you enjoy relaxing on the beach and the only exercise you do is getting in and out of the hotel pool. Sounds like heaven.

However, we do all have a responsibility to ensure we take better care ourselves when we enjoy the sun. Here is how we can do it.

Make sure you use sunscreen

It may sound obvious, but we can all be guilty of forgetting to apply the sunscreen on a hot day. But this is where our skin gets the added protection from those harmful UV rays that we just can’t see.

Using something like a spray cream or even a dry oil will make things easier to apply and keep you protected. If you make a point of adding it before getting dressed in the morning then you only need to top things up as the day goes on.

Keep yourself hydrated

As the weather gets warmer we lose essential fluids from our body as sweat tries to regulate our body temperature. So it is important to keep yourself hydrated during the summer, more so than ever. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times, so that you can keep drinking it.

Wear a hat

We can often forget to keep our head protected from the sun. With our hair, it is very difficult to protect the scalp of our heads with sunscreen, so a hat is the easiest ways to overcome this. It can also help provide shade for your face and eyes, which is an added bonus.

Protect your eyes

Much like we can forget to protect our head, we can also not think twice about our eyes in the sun. But the brighter light from the sun rays can actually cause more harm than good if we are not careful. This is why you need to consider protection for your eyes in the form of sunglasses.

If you have a prescription, you can easily get glasses online that can change from normal to tinted to help protect your eyes in the sun. You can also get pairs in high street shops that are protected from the UV rays so that you don’t need to worry about being out and about in the sun.

Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the days

We can be too tempted to be outside all day in the sun, especially if your don’t get much good weather. But at the hottest points of the day it is always advisable to seek out some shade or stay indoors for a little way. This is when the sun is at its strongest and can cause the most damage to your body.

Keep your home cool

Finally, keep your home as cool as possible. Open windows in the mornings and evenings to let the cool breeze in and ensure you keep blinds and curtain closed to avoid the sun glare into your home.

Let’s hope that these tips help you to protect yourself in the sun. 🙂
