This month’s edition of the Trending Topic section comes with a very special collaboration! I teamed up with the lovely Chrystin from A Mate & a Rottweiler to share our favorite trend for this Winter with you, since here in Argentina we’re welcoming Winter next week.

Chrystin is one of those awesome people I met thanks to our beloved blogosphere, after her blog’s name “caught my eye” as I explained in my first comment in A Mate & a Rottweiler (“Mate” is a traditional Argentine drink, you’ll see). Although she’s American, she runs her blog in Buenos Aires, and she posts about fashion, beauty, food and lifestyle. I know, everything sounds so interesting, right? Be sure to check her favorite trend HERE and feel free to follow her amazing blog. 🙂

Now, as for my pick: flare pants –also known as bell bottom pants, are currently in the top of my favorite trends for this season. Although they’re part of the 60’s/70’s revival you can style them in very different ways, making them “more you”. Let’s see some examples, shall we?

Veamos algunos ejemplos, quieren?

1. As I just said, this kind of pants belongs to the hippie era. If you really feel like channeling your inner Jannis Joplin and get carried away with her free spirit, then go for it!

2. Okay, I get it, not everyone wants to be warmed up in ponchos. If that’s your case, a head-to-toe classy take on a 70’s look is always welcomed. Remember, the 70’s weren’t all about boho; there were also classic ladies like Ali MacGraw you can take inspiration from.

3. You still want your outfit to represent those decades but you don’t want to go hardcore? Relax, there’s always a more toned down way to do it. Make sure to choose sober colors and adding a retro accessory like a hat to find the right balance.

4. But what about the office?! I haven’t forgotten you, boss ladies!

5. For a casual afternoon with your friends…

6. Flare pants can work perfectly for a fun night in the city, too! Flirt with the disco time by putting just some glitter on and enjoy of your Saturday Night Fever!

7. I know at first hand that when you’re petite things can get a little tricky. The secret is accentuating the waist whether by wearing a belt or choosing a high-waisted pair and tailoring the botton part, making sure it covers the shoes almost entirely. You can always check petite leading ladies like Miroslava Duma, Victoria Beckham or our fellow blogger Wendy Nguyen for more inspo. Or ignore the rules and create your own like the queen of flares: Rachel Zoe, who’s also petite and still wears tunics and long coats over hair pants!

8. Printed pants are also a great option for an edgy girl. Don’t be afraid of injecting some bright color or a cool print during the colder months… or any month, actually! 😉

9. One of the best runway looks featuring flare pants is this one from Zimmerman for his Ready-to-wear FW 2015 collection.

10. And of course, if there’s a trend, there’s a celebrity happily rocking it. In the picture: supermodel Karlie Kloss.

  • What great picks, Deb! I love the casual & contemporary look in #5, paired with a chic plaid belted coat in #7 and of course on super model Karlie Kloss in #10…not to mention that I LOVE her blanket cape, too!
I actually ordered a pair of flared jeans a couple of months ago…they are currently waiting for me at my house in New Jersey. Can’t wait to pick them up soon!

    xx Chrystin

    • I’m so glad you liked my selection, dear! I was a little nervous since I hadn’t shown you a preview or anything 😮
Karlie Kloss’ cape is awesome, I fell for it, too! 😉

  • Denise

Cuantas cosas lindas!

Que tengas un hermoso día, Denise!

  • Deb, I don’t mind the flare plants… I actually think they can be pretty stylish… I like the work look and the Ali McGraw look… both pretty and sylish… I like the updated look to flare pants since the 70’s… so much better than they used to be when I was growing up in that era xox ♡

    • Oh I’d have LOVED to grow up in that era!!! 😉 Luckily, I can wear them now again 😉 xxx

  • Athena Politou

I’m more into wide-leg pants rather than flared ones, but either way I do appreciate a 70s trend, it’s my favorite decade! Karlie looks so stunning in that last photo.

    • Wide-leg pants are gorgeous! I agree, apparentely pants during the 70s rule!!! 😉

  • Megan

This trend is so fun! I love all of these looks!

  • Stefanie Pink

I am in love with flare pants right now! Lovely picks, my dear 🙂

  • Lenya

Amazing selection. I love the new trend.

  • I must admit I’m not a huge fan of it, but who knows, I can change my mind easily 😉 I do think when it’s styled the right way it can look really good 🙂

    • Sure! Flare pants can be a little tricky. If you ever change your mind and need some styling inspiration here you have it! 😉

  • So in love with this trend and you snagged some of the best trend photos. Perfection!

    xx 365Hangers

    • Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked this selection 😀

  • I’m one million per cent on board with this trend – flared trousers are so flattering and seem to elongate anyone’s legs into oblivion! Karlie Kloss wears the trend so well, I’m in awe right now.. haha 🙂

    Gabrielle | A Glass Of Ice x

    • I know right? It does elongate the legs especially if it’s a high-wasited pair 🙂 I’m glad to see you liked this selecion, dear!
