Wow, that’s a long tittle, lol. So, as you can read, I’ve received some makeup products from GearBest to review and I was really excited because I didn’t know what to expect from them. Except for the lip gloss, they’re all different products than what I usually wear so I was quite intrigued.
This review will also continue in a Part II post featuring a dress that I also picked and one serum that was out of stock at the moment I ordered it and it arrives later. J But let’s talk about the things we do have here, all of them from their Beauty section:
BLACKISH CHRYSANTHEMUM ESSENCE LIPSTICK – PINK*
Or how I call it, “the flower jelly lipstick” 😉 This incredibly unique lipstick was the very first thing that caught my eye and I knew straight away that I wanted to try it. It’s definitely the most unique lipstick I own because guess what, it has a freaking flower in it! And it’s made of something like jelly!!! Okay when I actually calmed down and my initial reaction for the presentation was gone, I could focus in the product itself. The first thing I noticed when I applied this über girly lipstick was its crazy jelly texture. It feels so different from applying a normal lipstick. Also, it feels smooth and almost “watery”, like Vaseline or something. I picked this Pink color but they also had it in orange and rose red. I did have to swipe it many times for the color to actually show on my lips.
The website claims this lipstick is “long lasting” and “not easy to fade”. I can confirm it is indeed long lasting, probs not all day as it says, but it lasts even when the watery feeling is gone. The pigment stays and you don’t even feel it, which for me it’s great! The only downside of this lipstick is the non-so pleasant flavor of it. They put different flavors and smells for each color, but they taste and smell way too artificial and it’s just not a good bonus :/
Another thing I noticed that the website also claims is that “moisture and water replenishing can help you avoid chapped lip and keep lip moist”. Well, as you know I always have issues with my dry lips and while I won’t be replacing my Vaseline any time soon, it felt so relieving not having to apply any extra moisture because this lipstick got me covered. Even after the watery feeling, my lips were smooth and not dry for a while.
38 COLORS WATERPROOF LONG LASTING LIQUID MAKEUP LIP PEN MATTE LIPSTICK LIP GLOSS – Color 12*
Probably the weakest of all products, this liquid matte lip gloss is rather uncomfortable and sticky. Color is cute (maybe a bit too bright for my taste) but it ends up being a lovely bright coral pink perfect for spring/summer. M y only problem is really the consistency and texture of it. It feels a bit matte but overall super sticky and dry. It is indeed waterproof as it claims but the texture unfortunately overweighs the good things about this lip gloss.
Another product that was quite intriguing for me was this primer that allegedly had 24K gold foil in it. Gearbest claims that this product will “even the look of your skin tone, blur pores and fine lines, and help your make-up last longer” and if that wasn’t ambitious enough it also says “A perfect complexion instantly illuminated, visible pores appear reduced, skin texture looks smoothed and skin luminosity is boosted.” Well, let’s break it down.
It applies normally like a gel, after a couple of minutes my skin absorbed it and it didn’t feel greasy at all, which is amazing. I was a bit disappointed because I could barely spot the gold foils in the gel, and so far, although it left my skin smoother, I didn’t actually see it “instantly illuminated”. Maybe I haven’t worn it enough before writing this review. In the package you can read that they recommend using the product at night and in the morning, and I have only used once a day. For some reason I want to give this serum the benefit of the doubt, I really want to love it, lol. It’s not a bad product at all, it’s just not as great as it is depicted, at least not so far.
I hope you liked these reviews, and stay tuned a second part coming soon!
xoxo
